Sony Plans to Build an Educational Data Platform With Bitcoin's Blockchain

Feb 22, 2016

EDUCATION'S BITCOIN: Sony has announced plans to build a centralized platform for educational assessments and testing scores anchored by the blockchain, the technological basis of bitcoin. Sony Global Education has developed technology that uses the blockchain to secure data and allow its encrypted transfer.

The division said it is responding to the need for a centralized data exchange platform as more and more assessments generate mountains of data. It also plans to use the technology for its own Global Math Challenge test. Excited potential users have to wait, though: The company said in a press release it won't release the technology until 2017.
