Academic Merit raised $1.24 million in a round that closed in December 2015. (The organization had previously raised $300,000.) The organization offers a suite of Common Core aligned online professional-development, assessment, instruction, and learning tools for teaching literacy to students in grades 6-12. It is based near Portland, Maine. Its directors list includes some leading educators including founder H. Odgen Morse, Linda G. Roberts, Gee Kin Chou, and entrepreneur Steve Shapiro.
