How Science Teachers Can Teach Close Reading

LITERACY + SCIENCE: Most schools consider it every educator’s job to teach students to do close reading—not just English teachers. That can be a particular challenge for science teachers, who share dense scientific texts with struggling students. To help out, Stanford’s University Graduate School of Education is offering this free online course, via the learning platform, NovoEd, aimed at helping educators learn how to examine the selection of useful science texts, adopt strategies for supporting student comprehension and more.
