Apple's Tim Cook Derides Chromebooks as "Testing Machines"

Dec 10, 2015

SOUR APPLE: Tim Cook, bristling at the swift classroom takeover by Chromebooks, told Buzzfeed News that "Assessments don't create learning...We are interested in helping students learn and teachers teach, but tests, no. We create products that are whole solutions for people." He went on to call Chromebooks "test machines." Education has been an integral market for Apple since its early days, but Chromebooks are encroaching, now comprising half of all US K12 device sales.

Chromebooks had just a 1% market share in 2012 but have grown exponentially since. They doubled their market share in the past year.
