THE CITY OF BIG SHOULDERS: It’s official: AltSchool is expanding to the Windy City. Chicago residents initially expressed concerns over increased traffic, but construction of a new campus will begin in spring 2016, reports DNAinfo, just before its Manhattan location opens in fall of that year. The “micro” K-8 school is scheduled to open doors in fall 2017 with a capacity of 150. AltSchool is eyeing several other cities with their demographics and local regulations in mind—Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., according to FastCompany.
