UK Tutoring Startup, MyTutorWeb Raises £1 Million

Oct 26, 2015

MYTUTORWEB: £1 million (approx. US $1.5 million) to UK startup MyTutorWeb in a seed round from a group of 15 angel investors that include Stephen Welton and Stephen Grabiner. Founded in 2012, MyTutorWeb helps connect students with a network of 900 tutors for online sessions that cost £18 (US $27.60) per hour. More details here from The Telegraph.

The funding deal coincides with the launch of Edtech UK, a lobbying group that will help draw attention to the edtech companies in a country where schools spend about £900 million (US $1.4 million) on education technology every year. More than 1,000 are based in Britain, reports The Financial Times; here are the 91 based around London according to an Edtech UK report (PDF).
