S'Cool Tools of the Week: Kudzoo, WeSpeke

Oct 4, 2015

TOO COOL (PERFECT FOR SCHOOL): We've got our favorite edtech teacher and administrator tools for the week right here, as highlighted in our Instruct newsletter. By the way--got a favorite S’Cool Tool you like to use? We would love to hear and share your recommendations! If you’ve got a tool that makes you or your students sing from the proverbial mountaintops, fill out this form to let us know. It might just get featured!

Free! Did you ever ask your parents to pay you for your grades? How about strangers? Now you can ask the Internet. Students who use on Kudzoo can upload their report cards for a chance to convert their achievements into Kudzoo Cash. This grade-based Bitcoin, in turn, gives them purchasing power for concert tickets, food and scholarships, among other things. Students can earn Kudzoo cash for grades, attendance or answering daily SAT questions. Not for use for students under the age of 13.

Freemium: Think of Wespeke as a polyglot Facebook. WeSpeke offers a multilingual network to people trying to learn a new language. You can work with native speakers through chat, audio or video. If you want formal instruction, you can buy lessons on your languages of choice from the network that integrate grammar lessons and native speakers. The network claims to have users in 170 countries speaking 130 languages. That should mean your grandma’s dialect is definitely here.
