Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Acquires Digital Book Assets from MeeGenius

MEEGENIUS: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has acquired “select eBook and technology assets” of New York City-based MeeGenius, a digital library of children’s books. Terms of the deal, which includes more than 700 interactive digital books, were not disclosed in the release. Founded in 2010, the company claims its reading app that has been “installed by over 2 million mobile users and used in thousands of schools.” MeeGenius had also raised $2.4 million in venture capital. The deal comes in the wake of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s $575 million purchase of the majority of Scholastic’s education technology business.
