PASSING DIGITAL NOTES: Teens don’t need a Wifi connection or data plan to message each other in class. Messaging app Jott targets middle and high school students who have access to cell phones or iPods, but no access to data or Internet during the school day. Users can send messages (including Snapchat-like disappearing messages) to others within a 100-foot area through a “mesh network.” And with 500,000 self-reported active users in March and 15,000-20,000 new users every day, Jott seems to have tapped into a strong market.
