GOING TRANSPARENT: As educators and parents are asking for clarity around student data privacy policies, edtech companies are shedding some light. In March, companies Clever and LearnSprout uploaded their policies to Github, so any reader can track changes; Kickboard committed to posting notifications of changes to terms of service on its site. This week, 10 other companies have posted their policies on Github, including ClassDojo, Remind, and yes, EdSurge. FunnyMonkey’s Bill Fitzgerald, who compiled the list above, says open-sourcing data privacy terms “won’t magically make policies better,” but is a “good step toward creating a culture of transparency.”
