Simplify Edcamp Fundraising with Free "Edcamp-in-a-Box" Kits

Mar 31, 2015

WHAT'S IN A BOX: Edcamps have become a popular venue for professional development and teacher networking over the past few years--but it's not always easy to fundraise for such an event. Luckily, the Edcamp Foundation's management team has listened to these frustrations and responded with "Edcamp-in-a-Box." Edcamp-in-a-Box provides essentials for anyone to painlessly host an Edcamp. Contents include:

  • Gift cards for breakfast ($200) – coffee, bagels, etc.
  • Poster paper for signs
  • Flash drive with logos, posters, rules
  • Nametags
  • Markers
  • Post-Its for the session board
  • Edcamp stickers
  • Copy of The Edcamp Model
  • Photos of other Edcamps

"For some well-established Edcamps, [fundraising] isn’t an issue. They have sponsors who willingly step forward year after year," says Edcamp Foundation Executive Director Hadley Ferguson. "But for many others, this is the most exhausting and draining part of the work. So the Foundation decided to take this burden away."

Anyone--whether having planned an Edcamp before or not--can apply to get a box. According to Ferguson, "Basically, they just need to find a location in order to hold their Edcamp." Apply here, or read more from the Edcamp Foundation.
