LINGUA.LY: $1 million to Tel Aviv, Israel-based Lingua.ly from private and government investors that include Udi Netzer, Shai Rephaeli, Yochy Investments and the 1776 Seed Fund. Founded in 2011, Lingua.ly helps users develop vocabulary and reading skills in ten languages via a free (for now) website and app that delivers a newsfeed of articles. The company, which previously raised $800K, says 80% of its users are learning English, many of whom reside in the Middle East, China, Russia and Brazil.
