SHERLOCK'S SIDEKICK: There’s Watson for teachers, and now there’s Watson for kids. Indeed, the IBM supercomputer which bested humans at Jeopardy may soon be your kid’s robot friend and mentor. VentureBeat reports that Elemental Path, a New York-based startup, is building an Internet-connected dinosaur toy that can tap into Watson’s artificial intelligence to tell stories, knock-knock jokes and answer questions, along with teaching basic skills like math and spelling. The company, which took grand prize at the IBM Watson Mobile Developer’s Challenge, has already raised over $176,000 on Kickstarter at the time of writing.
