Brazil's New $309M Private Equity Fund for Education

BOZANO BONANZA: NYTimes Dealbook reports that Brazilian investment firm, Bozano Investimentos, "has raised a new 800 milllion reais (about $309 million) private equity fund focused on the education sector." German media conglomerate, Bertelsmann is contributing roughly 40% of the capital; another 15% is coming from Brazil's national development bank, BNDES.

Education companies in Bozanos' current portfolio include Anima Educação, which runs postsecondary institutions around the country, and startups QMágico and Evolve. Back in March 2014, Bozanos and Bertelsmann launched a 100 million reais (approx. US $38 million) education technology fund, BR Education Ventures.
