APPS GET THE PRIVACY GRADE: A team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon recently graded smartphone apps on their privacy practices, including edu-specific ones like Remind and highly-addictive games like Angry Birds. Who’s getting an A--and whose shoddy handling of sensitive data has landed them on the “most controversial” list? Check it out here on PrivacyGrade.com. Here are a few sample app grades: Duolingo's language-learning app got an "A," while Remind's parent-teacher text messaging app received a "B" grade and mind-mapping app Pearltrees received a "C."
