EVERNOTE: $20 million to Redwood City, CA-based Evernote from Nikkei Inc., a major Japanese media company that runs half a dozen newspapers. This bumps Evernote's funding to $290 million since it was founded in July 2007. As part of the deal, Evernote's Context tool, which can recommend content relevant to what user is working on, will show business news from Nikkei. Evernote's note-taking productivity tool is popular among teachers and students, and the company offers its business license at a 75% discount to schools.
