RATE THE RATERS: Often teachers are observed and evaluated by multiple administrators over the course of a year. Each administrator has their own approach, and often times scores differ greatly, depending on who’s observing. A set of tools are emerging in the PD world to help administrators practice giving feedback and align their methods with one another.
This week, Truenorthlogic and Teaching Learning Solutions joined the pack of tools doing observation calibration with their new tool, Calibration Connect. This tool is a bit different than others. Instead of averaging observers’ scores on multiple standards within a teaching framework and then giving a pass/fail, it provides a rating in three different areas of observation proficiency.
