US Edtech Companies Raise $50M in July 2014

KA'CHING! US-based edtech companies raised $50.1 million in July, according to analysis by EdSurge. The funding was spread over 20 separate deals and provided by more than 28 investors.

This funding total was driven by a few very large deals that together make up more than 80% of total funding. Edmodo led the way with its $30 million round of series D funding. Regent Education, a provider of software for higher education financial aid and enrollment raised $9 million in debt and venture funding to follow as the second largest US deal. WeSpeke, a website for learning language by practicing with native speakers, raised $3 million in a series B round.
