OER Will Not Break Textbook Industry, Says Knewton CEO Jose Ferreira

TEXTBOOK ADVICE: Following this year's Knewton Education Symposium (where Hillary Clinton delivered a keynote), Knewton CEO Jose Ferreira offered thoughts on why OER will not "break the textbook industry." What OER currently lacks, he says, are production value, proper instructional design ("It's pieces of the puzzle"), and ongoing support and maintenance. OER "will only partially commoditize" content, he writes. "Publishers who can't beat OER deserve to go out of business."
