Tales2Go Raises $750K for a 'Netflix' of Audiobooks

TALES2GO: $750K to Tales2Go from NewSchools Venture Fund and the Maryland Venture Fund (the venture arm of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development). The Bethesda, MD-based startup has now raised $1.37 million. Founded in 2009, Tales2Go offers a "Netflix-like subscription service" that streams over 4,000 audiobooks from major publishers to preK-8 students. Teachers can assign audiobooks to entire classes or grades. Company co-founder and CEO, William Weil, says in the press release that audiobooks can play a major role in improving vocabulary and listening skills emphasized in Common Core literacy standards.
