HeadSprout Goes to Learning A-Z

Dec 26, 2013

HEADSPROUT GOES TO LEARNING A-Z: This is the way some edtech companies end: not with an IPO but an acquisition. Earlier this year HeadSprout, which developed literacy and early learning software, and Mimio, which makes a variety of classroom hardware like whiteboards and clickers, both were acquired by private equity group, Skyview Capital, LLC in Beverly Hills, CA. Now Headsprout has been sold to Learning A-Z, a Cambium Learning Group company. Cambium, based in Dallas, trades on NASD as ABCD. Cambium includes four business units: Voyager/Sopris Learning, Learning A-Z, ExploreLearning and Kurzweil Educational Systems and IntelliTools.

Editors note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly suggested that Learning A-Z also acquired Mimio. Skyview retained Mimio.
