GRUPO MULTI: The Brazilian-based English language training company has been acquired by Pearson for approximately £440 million (US $721 million), reports Bloomberg, which calls this Pearson's biggest acquisition since 2007. Founded in 1987, Grupo Multi currently operates over 2,600 franchised schools that serve over 800,000 students. Pearsons' press release says the deal will "support a more rapid deployment of its Wall Street English language schools in Brazil." It also says that Grupo Multi passed the Pearson "efficacy review," which the company recently unveiled to show how its business decision are aligned with learning outcomes.
