Latino-Focused Accelerator Graduates First Class

Nov 26, 2013

NEW GEEK ON THE BLOCK: Manos, a new startup accelerator in Silicon Valley, graduated its inaugural class last week at its demo day at Google, where over 250 people packed the house to watch seven startups deliver their pitches. What makes Manos an accelerator worth watching is its unique focus on supporting and growing Latino entrepreneurial talent. Founders include Edward Avila (co-founder of myJoblinx), Sylvia Flores (well known for her work with Mexico President Vicente Fox), and David Lopez (entrepreneur and father to actress/singer Jennifer Lopez). One edtech startup took the spotlight: Sleek Geek, a teacher-led startup working on mobile-based reading, math, and behavior management tools.
