YOU KNOW EDTECH IS REAL WHEN: There are lots of ways to finish that sentence--but one way would be including edtech in a scholarly journal. The fine grad students at the University of Texas at Austin have just launched the inaugural issue of Texas Education Review. Raul Calvoz, a PhD student, was the driving force behind collecting 24 meaty articles including:
- Leading Change with Tech-Enhanced Education at the University of Texas by William Powers, Jr.
- Twenty Years of Charter Schools: What we've Learned by Mike Feinberg (founder of KIPP)
- Can Entrepreneurship Be Taught? by Robert Metcalfe (serial entrepreneur
- Learning Systems Not Games by James Paul Gee
And yes, we had a hand in there, too, with A Brief History of (EdTech) Time by Betsy Corcoran
The issue, which is called "Time Capsule 2013" is dedicated to "the interesting times in which we live." The next issue is already in the works. Amazing what a group of 10 grad students have time to create!
