LAUSD Superintendent May Resign in February 2014

Oct 28, 2013

DEASY IN A DOOZY: The Los Angeles Times reports that LA Unified School District Superintendent may resign as early as February 2014; he took the job in April 2011. This may not be surprising as his district has been under intense criticism for highly publicized slip-ups in its ambitious $1 billion iPad rollout, which saw problems like lax security measures, missing devices, and unfinished digital curriculum. Prior to this, Deasy weathered through another controversy when he allowed students' standardized test scores to factor into teacher evaluations. The Washington Post surmises Deasy may just be "playing politics to get a better [performance] review" due next week.
