EdX's 'Business-to-Nation' Revenue Model

SEEING GREEN FROM A RED HAT: "Even non-profits need to eat," writes Robinson Meyer of The Atlantic in his piece on new revenue plans for edX, the non-profit counterpart to Coursera and Udacity. EdX's new "business-to-nation" model, in light of its recent partnerships with France and China, finds it offering the source code gratis but charges for technical support and advice. EdX president Anant Agarwal calls it a "Red Hat for Linux approach," in reference to the open source software company that has found success with a similar strategy.
