DATAMARK has "acq-hired" the technology behind SF-based Altius Education, which includes the competency-based, online learning platform, Helix, along with enrollment management and student retention platforms. (At time of writing, the Altius website re-directs to the press release.) Altius' 42 employees will be joining the Datamark, a Salt Lake City company helps colleges with enrollment marketing. The deal was financed by an investment group led by Oakleigh Thorne, Chairman of the Board of Datamark, which also chipped in $11 million in equity. Altius has been on the hot seat when Ivy Bridge College, a two-year online program created in partnership with Tiffin University, was stripped of accreditation and is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice.
