GOING FOR TEN: Not long ago, Texas Governor Rick Perry brought the idea of a $10,000 college degree into the national spotlight. Some state schools are heeding his call. But in a recent email to The Washington Post, author and self-proclaimed "edupunk" Anya Kamentz called these efforts "gimmicky and unrealistic." She recently laid out her own six-step plan in a report, "$1 Trillion and Rising: A Plan for a $10K Degree," which suggests cutting administration costs and perks, pushing blended learning, and a four-tier college model. Over at FastCompany, Kamentz also compiled a guide of resources for a $10,000 degree on entrepreneurship, programming, design and social innovation.
