Pricing Options for Common Core Assessments Announced

Jul 23, 2013

CORE COSTS: As states get closer to rolling out CC exams for the 2014-15 school year, testing costs are now added to the list of concerns around this cosmic shift in the education landscape. PARCC, one of the two companies designing Common Core assessments, revealed its price tag this week. For $29.50 per student, PARCC will provide summative tests in math and English/language arts.

For almost half of the states in the PARCC consortium this new price tag is more than what they are currently spending. Smarter Balanced, the other party designing the assessments, will offer two pricing options of $22.50 or $27.30. These price points will only be higher for one third of the States using these assessments. To dig in deeper around what these prices tags mean and what they are compared against, check out this piece from Catherine Gerwertz in EdWeek.
