GRAND OPENING: EdX, which at last count includes 27 schools from 11 countries, announced it has released the open source code for its MOOC platform, which also comes with a course authoring tool, an course on how to run an online course, and assessment tools that include both peer and AI grading tools. InformationWeek reports that the release date was pushed up due to requests from member schools like Stanford, Berkeley, and the University of Queensland to contribute code. In his blog post, edX President Anant Agarwal expressed hopes that "edX will become the 'Linux of Learning.'"
