State Legislators Take Aim at Common Core

DOWN TO THIRTY-SIX?: Of the 45 partner states originally signed onto Common Core, at least nine are getting cold feet as the 2013-2014 implementation approaches. Legislators in Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Alabama, South Carolina, and Utah are actively seeking ways to repeal, block, or suspend CCSS progress. The HuffPo has details on those efforts here. It’s unclear how far the backpedaling will go -- recent protests across the nation may prove nothing more than political fodder.
