SETDA Report Outlines Ongoing Education Data Initiatives

May 21, 2013

DATA DATA EVERYWHERE: This one's for all you dataphiles out there. The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) just released a new report, "Transforming Data to Information in Service of Learning," to help you catch up on the latest status (and controversy) around efforts to establish data interoperability definitions and standards for students, schools and vendors. The report offers three general recommendations moving forward. But what's more handy are the easy-to-follow profiles of what organizations like inBloom, Ed-Fi, and others with acronyms for names are up to, along with their sources of funding, future plans, and potential impact in the classroom. (After you go through all 14, an excellent trivia question may be: which letters of the alphabets have not been used?)
