Zoobean Raises $500K to Recommend Kids' Books

May 19, 2013

ZOOBEAN: $500K to D.C.-based Zoobean in seed round led by Kapor Capital and angel investors, reports TechCrunch, which calls the service a "Netflix for kids' books." Founded by a husband-and-wife team that includes a former D.C. teacher of the year and Google's head of K-12 education outreach, the company offers a library of nearly 1,500 physical books, each tagged by a curation team. Users can filter and search for titles to purchase through the site, and also pay a monthly subscription fee to receive one "featured book" each month.
