THESE VENTURES ARE TFA APPROVED: With so many Teach For America graduates getting entrepreneurial, it makes sense that the organization would create a way of funding alumni projects. The Teach For America Social Innovation Award, now in its second year, just announced its five 2013 winners, each of whom will get a share in a total of $140K in seed funding. One prize winner, TEACHED, employs some sharp filmmaking to show viewers how race-based inequalities affect education in the American public school system. Another winner, mSchool, creates after school programs where students receive individualized instruction coupled with a blended learning environment. Check out the rest of the winners here and apply for next year's awards.
