School Tool: HOMAGO Guidebook Provides Pointers for Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out

Mar 20, 2013

Free! The term HOMAGO first crossed our radar back in 2012 while touring around the Chicago HIVE Network, a consortium of youth-facing organizations supported by the MacArthur Foundation. Short for Hang Out, Mess Around, Geek Out, HOMAGO is a theory which attempts to explain the many ways that youth interact with new and social media. A contingent of HIVE Chicago led by Yollocalli Arts Reach, has now codified best practices from the Yollocalli Arts Reach Open Studio -- a youth cultural production space -- into the HOMAGO GUIDEBOOK. The intent of the guide is "to help facilitate and inspire organizations, schools and institutions to provide informal learning spaces for teens."
