A LITTLE DIRT IN YOUR PI: Mojang, the company behind Minecraft, recently released a free version of the world-building game made specifically for the Raspberry Pi. Minecraft, which was originally a one-man show started by Markus "Notch" Persson, has now grossed over $240 million in sales. The Raspberry Pi Foundation, maker of the small, $35 computer aimed at hobbyists, recently announced the sale of its one millionth unit.
Each product's success and ubiquity has been genre bending. (Are indie games even allowed to make that much?) Maybe it's time to drop the labels of "indie" for games and "embeddable" for mini-computers, which are as much a burden as they are descriptive, and accept them as something that will soon be a daily part of our lives.
