Blackboard Acquires Video Conferencing Company, Requestec

Sep 25, 2014

REQUESTEC: Acquired by Washington, DC-based Blackboard for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2007, Requestec offers real-time video communication tools that will now be integrated into Blackboard's learning management system. Financial terms were not disclosed. The technology will allow students and teachers to videoconference without the need to install a plug-in, says a company representative. This acquisition comes on the heels of a survey from EDUCAUSE suggesting communication as one of the "most frequently cited items students would improve" with their LMS.
