Mana.bo Raises $3M to Grow Japanese Online Tutoring Platform

Sep 21, 2014

MANA.BO: $3 million (¥330 million) to Tokyo-based Mana.bo in a Series A round from Bennesse Holdings, Nissay Capital and MUFJ Capital, reports Tech In Asia. The Japanese startup previously delivered its online tutoring platform exclusively through Benessee, one of the country's distance education and textbook providers, but will now focus on working directly with consumers. Mana.bo is one of several Japanese startups looking to digitize the country's cram school ("juku") industry, which some estimate is a $10 billion market.
