Japanese MOOC Provider Scores $1.5M

SCHOO: $1.5 million (152 million yen) to Tokyo-based Schoo in Series A round led by Itochu Technology Ventures, Anri, and Incubate Fund, reports StartupDating Launched in January 2012, the MOOC startup offers online courses for the Japanese audience. So far it's got over 130 courses and over 40,000 users, "mostly office workers in their late 20s and early 30s." The company is aiming to scale rapidly and surpass a million users by the end of the year.
