Assistive Website Opens YouTube for Disabled Learners

Apr 3, 2013

Free! (and CC-licensed) ACCESS YOUTUBE provides a barebones interface for accessing YouTube videos through assistive computing technologies. Developed by Mike Thrussell, assistive technology coordinator at Henshaws College (a U.K.-based vocational school for the visually-impaired and learning disabled), AccessYouTube removes distracting ads and interactive content from the screen which makes the use of assistive technology more burdensome. It’s the first in a number of assistive websites being developed at Henshaws and funded by JISC Advance.
