Summary
We’re building a digital literacy product that measures oral reading fluency and reading comprehension, helping teachers track growth and intervene earlier. We’re looking for a current or former classroom teacher to co-design the next iteration with us - shaping tasks, rubrics, and teacher workflows so the tool fits real classrooms.
What you’ll do
- Co-design assessment tasks and teacher/student flows for fluency (ORF) and comprehension.
- Define fluency protocols and create scoring guides/rubrics.
- Pilot quickly with teachers/students; synthesize feedback; iterate in tight cycles.
- Align items to standards (e.g., CCSS/State) and Science of Reading principles; ensure cultural relevance and accessibility.
- Contribute to data quality: inter-rater reliability checks, item review logs, and annotation guidelines.
You’re a great fit if you…
- Have 10+ years teaching ELA/literacy (Middle school or higher) and have administered fluency/comprehension assessments in US.
- Are comfortable co-designing with a product team and doing light usability testing.
- Write crisp, teacher-friendly copy and can calibrate rubrics with examples.
Scope & time
- Part-time contract: ~10 hours/week for 8-12 weeks (extendable).
- Remote, async-friendly with 1-2 short syncs/week.
Deliverables
- Pilot plan, teacher feedback synthesis, and iteration notes.
- Draft teacher instructions and quick-start materials.
