Romain Bertrand is the Multi-Classroom Leader for math at Ranson IB middle school, part of the Project L.I.F.T. initiative within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He is one of the first educators within the District, and indeed the nation, to hold this title. He is responsible for the math education of 800 6th and 7th grade students as well as the professional development of their teachers through continual coaching.
At Ranson IB, he has spearheaded the school's creation of a math blended learning curriculum, a differentiated program to help all students grow. A native of France, Romain first came to the US as part of the Visiting International Faculty (VIF) program. He taught math in France as well as at Charlotte's Alexander Graham middle school before joining the Ranson faculty as the New Teacher Coach in 2011. He is a graduate of the first cohort of the School Executive Leadership Academy (SELA) at Queens University of Charlotte. He is currently enrolled in the Master of School Administration program also at Queens.
