VALOREBOOKS: Acquired by Boston-based SimpleTuition in cash-and-stock deal, according to Boston.com. Founded in 2002 in sunny San Diego, ValoreBooks was one of the earlier online marketplaces for new and used textbook purchase and rentals. It's a fitting acquisition to SimpleTuition's lineup of services that provide tools to help college students save on school-related expenses, particularly with student loans.
