GEORGIA ON MY MIND:The Georgia Senate passed a bill last Thursday to make online learning a requirement for graduation; its now headed to the House for consideration. SB 289 mandates that all K-12 students have access to online instruction starting next year, along with requiring all ninth-grade students starting in 2014 to complete at least one online course before graduation. If passed, Georgia will join a small crowd--Alabama, Florida and Michigan--as states requiring online classes.
