Adjacent Raises $2.1 Million to Teach Liberal Arts Students Tech Skills

Jan 21, 2020

Adjacent Academies, a Seattle-based provider of a program to teach liberal arts college students credit-earning tech skills, has closed a $2.1 million seed round. Rethink Education led the round and was joined byNew Ground Ventures, Bisk Ventures and Entangled Group.

Founded in 2019, Adjacent conducted a pilot program last year that brought students from Davidson College in North Carolina to San Francisco. The students visited tech company offices and learned about programming, public speaking and other career-oriented skills.

This isn’t the first company created by incubator-investor-consultant Entangled Group to raise venture capital. ReUp Education, which helps universities re-enroll students who have dropped out, raised a $6 million Series A round last summer, followed by branded digital skills career program developer Pathstream, which announced its $12 million in Series A round a couple of months later.
