Travel the Globe With These 50 International Education Technology Events in 2020

Editor’s note: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted plans for gatherings and events across the board. Every organizer has postponed, cancelled and/or taken their event virtual.

Last year EdSurge crisscrossed the globe reporting on education—both in person and in our stories. Now we present our second annual international events calendar, stuffed with 50 events to help you do the same.

As technology continues to blur borders and bind us to a greater global community, we’ve explored how these shifts are creating confusion for American teachers who witness child abuse in China, a Japanese PowerPoint style catching on with students around the world and how China’s “Silicon Valley” embraces edtech. (Along the way we’ve also touched down in Doha, São Paulo and Tokyo over the years.)

So what’s next? Check out our collection of conferences, summits and convenings, a healthy mix of education events catering to K-12, higher ed and business audiences. There are gatherings as close as Canada and as far off as Malaysia, South Africa and Australia.

Click below to download the calendar. For more events, check out our 2020 U.S. K-12 calendar and the higher ed version. And if you’re looking to plug in remotely, EdSurge also hosts virtual townhalls, called EdSurge Live, where we invite experts to speak about the latest trends and issues in higher education and technology.

In case you’re wondering…

Gold, red, blue: What do these colors mean?

There are a lot of conferences on this list (now 54 to be exact). To help narrow things down, we've designated the primary audience for each event:

  • Blue events focus on teaching and learning and are targeted at instructors, faculty and instructional designers (though some of these events involve exhibitor halls).
  • Red events emphasize the business of edtech more than pedagogy.
  • Gold events are tightly focused around a topic or specific audience, such as libraries or community colleges.

Your link took me to a conference that already happened or doesn’t exist yet. What gives?

We confirmed with conference organizers all dates for future events that aren’t yet listed on their site. We link to the most relevant websites we could find; organizers will update pages that appear outdated in the coming months.

Aw, you left out my favorite event!
