Unibuddy Raises $5 Million in Series A Round to Grow Student Chat Platform

Jul 15, 2019

UNI VISION: Unibuddy, a London-based platform for college students to chat with prospective students about the university, has raised $5 million in a Series A round led by Fred Destin and Harry Stebbings of Stride VC. Participants include Emerge Education, Zoom board member Bart Swanson, Logitech founder Daniel Borel and Spotify adviser Shakil Khan.

Founded in 2015, Unibuddy will use the money to hire more employees and add more students, particularly in the U.S., to its platform, according to a statement Monday. The company claims to work with over 150 institutions worldwide and power conversations at a third of U.K. universities. Unibuddy claims to have powered over 500,000 conversations on its platform.

Funding in recent years for companies that offer ways to connect prospective students to colleges they’re interested in include CollegeDekho, Cialfo and CollegeVine.
