MOBILE MERGER: Higher-ed mobile apps OOHLALA and DubLabs announced today they are merging to become one company. Based in Montreal, OOHLALA helps colleges and universities track student engagement in events and extracurricular activities on campus, and send students nudges and recommendations based on their preferences. Dublabs, which is based in Virginia, allows schools to track a students academic performance, send messages and campus notifications, and can serve as a mobile hub for school information.

Danial Jameel, CEO of OOHLALA, says that the companies are working on a new branding strategy. The two platforms will largely remain the same from the user’s point of view, with one exception: The two apps are incorporating the full range of each other’s features, giving users access to both.
