ECS LEARNING SYSTEMS, a family-owned, Texas-based provider of test-prep materials, has been acquired by Asteria Education. The deal was financed with $4 million loan by Business Capital. Few details are known about Asteria, which is currently led by David Cumberbatch, a former executive at education companies including ACT and K12 Inc. The company plans to share more at SXSWedu, a major education technology conference, this March. See the press release for more details.
