Aug 2, 2017

EVERYDAY I’M HUSTLING: Hustle, a text messaging campaign platform, has raised $8 million in a Series A round led by led by Social Capital. The San Francisco-based company’s existing investors at Canvas Ventures also contributed to the round, plus new investors at Omidyar Network, Twilio.org Impact Fund and nine other firms.

Founded in 2014, Hustle allows schools and organizations to reach audiences through text messaging. The app has been used to help fundraise, and saw a surge of users after being picked up by both the Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton campaigns in the 2016 election cycle. The company claims it has helped its clients carry out 38 million conversations in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

According to a press announcement, Hustle will use the funds to further develop its platform to expand its offerings around fundraising and campaigns and “achieve ubiquity in the political and advocacy industry in advance of the 2018 U.S. elections.” It also plans to grow its sales and marketing teams.
